\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \Research studies using Point-of-Care (POC) Testing are reviewed by UNC Hospitals Point-of Care Testing Committee when the POC testing results are used for patient or subject screening (inclusion or exclusion), monitoring or treatment (for example, in the decision to administer a drug or conduct imaging studies). Examples of such tests include, but are not limited to, urine pregnancy testing, glucose monitoring, coagulation testing, etc. All POC in vitro testing must be evaluated and approved by the POC Testing Committee to ensure that it meets institutional goals, state, federal regulations, and accrediting organizations (TJC/CAP) standards.
